Christmas Concert – Wednesday 18 December




Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra's annual Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday 18th December, 7.30pm, at Morningside United Church. As well as the usual array of carols we'll be playing Symphony No. 5 by William Boyce and other popular classics.

Next rehearsal – Wednesday 2nd October


Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra returns following our summer break on Wednesday 2nd October at 7.30pm. As usual we'll be meeting at Morningside United Church, 15 Chamberlain Road, Edinburgh, to rehearse for our Christmas concerts, with a break for tea and coffee. As ever we welcome new members.

Summer concerts

Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra are playing two concerts before we take our annual summer break. 

The first concert takes place at Morningside United Church at 8pm on Wednesday 5 June. 
The second is at Crichton Collegiate Church, Pathhead, Midlothian at 3pm on Sunday 9 June. 

Both concerts will feature Johann Stamitz's Mannheim Symphony No 3, the Capriol Suite for String Orchestra by Peter Warlock (pictured) and Concerto No. 1 in D Major for Organ and String Orchestra by John Stanley, for which we will be accompanied on the organ by Leon Coates.

May Concerts – Haydn Cello Concerto


Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra is delighted to present two concerts featuring the renowned cellist Edward Gant. 
Edward will be playing the Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major with us, at St Anne's Episcopal Church, Dunbar, on Friday 17 May at 8pm and at Elim Church, 18 Morningside Road, on Saturday 18 May at 7.30pm.

The orchestra will also be playing Haydn's Symphony No. 67.

Wagner concert – Saturday 6 April 2013



Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra are performing a gala concert to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Richard Wagner (1813-1883) featuring the renowned tenor Ben Thapa in the title roles, and Emily Mitchell as Elsa and Janet De Vigne as Ortrud and Venus. 

The programme includes the whole of the final Act of Lohengrin, the Overture to Rienzi and the 'Venusberg' music from Tannhauser.

The performance starts at 7.30pm on Saturday 6 April at Morningside United Church. Entrance by programme £12 including refreshments.

Next rehearsal – Wednesday 16 January



Happy New Year! Thanks to everyone who attended our concerts in December at Crichton Collegiate Church and Morningside United Church. The orchestra will begin rehearsals for our spring concerts on Wednesday 16 January 2013 at Morningside United Church at 7.30pm.

As ever new members are welcome
